Legends of Stormreach (later: Legends) started as an idea during beta of DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) when Helgrim started a forum thread stating that he was looking for 'mature, community minded people that enjoyed roleplaying' to enjoy DDO together with. It turned that a lot of people were interested in the same thing and Legends was created at game launch. Later the guild would spread out into new MMOs such as LotRO (Lord of the Rings Online), Saga of Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, SWG (Star Wars Galaxies), EQ2 (Everquest 2), GW (Guild Wars) and other games before it slowly faded and eventually discontinued.

The Arcane Light was founded by Aeowin. When TSW (The Secret World) was announced she asked her current gaming community if there was any interest in starting up in that game. When there was no interest she decided to start a new guild herself and The Arcane Light was born. As was the case with Legends this community also eventually branched out into other MMOs such as STO (Star Trek Online), Neverwinter, Rift, GW2 (Guild Wars 2) and other games before it also slowly faded as key community leaders left for other adventures.
